Despite the intermittent rain, 67 walkers took part in the 14th annual Poker Walk. Midge Tschakert won the grand prize, a 21-speed mountain bike, with a full house.
The 3.1 mile course began and ended at the Nature Center at the Chahinkapa Park zoo. Each walker received a playing card at each of 5 different stations.
Participants donated food to the Richland Wilkin Food Pantry in lieu of a registration fee.

29 riders explored the south side of Wahpeton, its new trail system, and learned about the history of the circus monument at Riverside Cemetery. This trail, and others, are listed on our Resources page.

Sunday, February 21
26 runners and walkers raised over $225 for the Richland-Wilkin Food Pantry. The funds will be matched at a 50% or greater level thanks to a grant from Hunger Solutions Minnesota. All participants received a free gift bag and an entry in the year-end grand prize drawing for Wahpeton-Breckenridge Chamber Bucks.
Sunday, December 13
53 runners and walkers took to the track at the Blikre Activities Center to help raise money for the Salvation Army. Wahpeton (40 participants) bested Breckenridge (13) for the city challenge, by a population-adjusted margin of 4-3. Just wait 'til next year!

Nearly 30 walkers joined tour guides Janet Gagelin and Judy Oren on a 2-mile route that highlighted Wahpeton's late 19th and early 20th century settlers and businesses.

On a beautiful Saturday morning, over 30 participants took a 2-mile walk through Breckenridge and visited 11 historically significant sites throughout the city.

Carlton Moldenhauer of Wahpeton was the winner of the bicycle at the 13th annual Southern Valley Health Watch Poker Walk held August 11. A total of 72 participants walked a 3.1 mile course through Wahpeton and Breckenridge.
The course began and ended at the Nature Center at the Chahinkapa Park zoo. Each walker received a playing card at each of 5 different stations. Moldenhauer's winning hand was a full house.
